Medication Update – 5/14/12

Photobucket

Prednisone. Never been on so much Prednisone. Loma Linda does not really do out patient steroids so instead of the typical 3 day course of IV Solu Medrol that I am used to I get to swallow 25 50mg tablets of Prednisone a day for 3 days... 1,250mg. What a horrible taste. I can almost avoid them touching my tongue but with 25 pills and no fine motor skills one always slips...

They are also switching me to Rebif. Did I not tell my new neurologist 2 months ago that I needed Prednisone and Rebif? Wow, I am not even a doctor...

Finally back on my Citalopram but being on such a high dose of steroids it's hard to tell if my mood is stabilizing at all. It kind of feels like it so hopefully once I am off the steroids I'll be a tad more... “stable”. But who knows...

So here is a quick list of the meds I am on, need to add the supplements back into the cocktail but it's just so hard right now, to swallow all the pills, keep track of everything, and take them on a steady schedule... I hate this.

  • Prednisone - 1,250mg a Day
  • Citalopram - 40mg a Day
  • Gabapentin - 300mg a Day
  • Clonazepam - as Needed
  • Norco - as Needed

  1. Hey Matt! I always find that taking the oral steroids with milk helped with the taste. Did they give you anything for your stomach? And how about sleep? Good luck with the prednisone and I really hope it helps!
